Lines We Carry brings together the work of Le Vu and Rebekah Sohn in an exploration of memory, cultural inheritance, and diasporic identity. Through mixed media, moving image, installation, and collectible design, the artists delve into the deeply personal terrain of what it means to migrate, to remember, to reclaim, and to reimagine home. Rooted in Vietnamese and Korean cultural traditions, their practices intersect through a shared engagement with traditional making processes, materials, and techniques. Unfolding within an intimate, homely space, Lines We Carry invites audiences to consider their own attachments—cultural, emotional, ancestral—and how they manifest in the everyday.

About Le Vu
Born in Hanoi, Vietnam, and raised between Hanoi and Te Matau-a-Māui Hawke’s Bay, Le Vu is an artist and industrial designer who perceives the world through physical touch, finding meaning in the tangible and exploring the purpose of objects being brought into existence. Her works bridge Indigenous and traditional influences with contemporary language, aiming to create meaningful, tactile connections between people and objects.
Le is currently based in Tāmaki Makaurau and works as Design teacher at King’s College. In 2024, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree (Hon.) in Industrial Design from Massey University. Recent exhibitions include the Industrial Design group exhibition (2023) at the NZ Police National Headquarters organized by Massey University and the NZ Police; the national group exhibition The Loop (2022), organized by the Vietnam Young Artist Club in Hanoi; and the group exhibition Earth Body Blood Water (2022) in Hanoi. Le is the winner of the 2025 Only Natural competition, London, with her work Low dining table. In 2022, she was the recipient of the Dung Dang residency programme for Vietnamese artists and writers.

About Rebekah Sohn
Rebekah Sohn is a North Shore-based artist with a Korean heritage. Guided by a sensitivity to light, time, and the subtle rhythms of the natural world, her practice explores how form, repetition, and material can hold memory. Her works trace the lines between presence and absence, stillness and change, making space for remembering and belonging.
Rebekah graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts (University of Auckland) in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree and conjoint in Commerce. Her painting, Morning hour, was selected as a finalist in the 2025 Molly Morpeth Canaday Award. Recent exhibitions include Portal (2026) at The Kit – Artspace Aotearoa, Tāmaki Makaurau, and Metanoia’s Emerging Artists exhibition (2024), at Metanoia Gallery, Tāmaki Makaurau. Rebekah currently works as Audience Administrator and Engagement Assistant at Te Tuhi and as Visitor Host at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
