ITALIANS OF AUCKLAND
POP-UP exhibition
I curated the pop-up exhibition Italians of Auckland, by Italian-born Tāmaki Makaurau-based photographer Francesca Brugnoli. The exhibition was presented in the University of Auckland’s B201 building foyer on Wednesday 22 October 2025, as part of the 25th edition of the Italian Language Week in the World. The Italian Ambassador to New Zealand, Cristiano Maggipinto, and Consul Lindsey Jones were in attendance.
Italians of Auckland is an ongoing project documenting who the Italians of Auckland are today: why they came, how they live, and the ways in which they express their Italian identity. It is a visual journey through stories of belonging, transformation, and everyday life, highlighting the richness and diversity of our community – from new arrivals to long-term residents, from those who maintain strong ties to Italy to those who now call both places home.
